Unisex Kenyan Kikoy

4Shift offers a unique range of ethnic accessories for style-conscious men and women who like something that feels a little bit special but is still affordable. All our products, from Kikoys to ornately decorated leather sandals, are sourced from Malindi, a holiday resort and district capital on the south coast of Kenya.

As well as crafting exceptional goods for sale, our aim is to provide work for the community which in turn provides vital support for local families and other dependents. Currently we are running a project that helps educate orphaned boys and girls aged from 4 to 18. Many of these children have lost their parents through HIV/AIDS, and they now reside with their grandparents and elderly relatives who are themselves too old to work or find the funding to provide a decent future. Founded in 2009 by Ahmed Moobe, 4Shift was created to support the local economy through trade and provide schooling for these children.

In addition, a percentage of our profits also go to the Lea Mwana Children Centre in Malindi. This is a registered project that tackles the grave problem of community attitude and culture towards vulnerable children, including orphans with HIV/AIDS and children with disabilities. Many families in the region have very low income and live below the poverty line, so cannot support these needy children. Funding for the Lea Mwana Children Centre comes from donations and sponsorship by individuals and groups within the community, along with donations from tourists visiting Malindi.
